Billings, MT – Sandstone Gallery is thrilled to announce two spectacular events set to captivate art enthusiasts and the local community this November. These back-to-back celebrations will bring a fusion of creativity, inspiration, and Montana’s rich heritage to downtown Billings.
Event 1: Sandstone Gallery’s “Symbols of Montana” Mural Unveiling
Date: November 3rd, 2023

Prepare to be enchanted by the grand unveiling of the “Symbols of Montana” mural on the #LightBike Trail, a true masterpiece that captures the essence of Montana’s heritage. This monumental artwork, spanning fifty feet in width and twelve feet in height, boasts traditional Montana symbols, including the grizzly bear, meadowlark, bitterroot flower, moose, and more. A testament to the community’s collaborative spirit, this mural reflects the heart of Montana.

- Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony: Join us for the unveiling of this extraordinary mural, showcasing Montana’s unique symbols.
- Reception: Following the ceremony, indulge in light refreshments, meet the talented artists who crafted the mural, and explore the diverse art within the gallery.
Event 2: “Discover the Beauty of Fiber Art” Artists Reception
Date: Saturday, November 4th
Time: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

- Fiber Art Extravaganza: Immerse yourself in the world of exquisite scarves, table runners, shawls, and wall hangings, meticulously crafted by special guest artist Susan Leaverton. Susan will be present to guide you through her creations and answer your inquiries.
- Yarn Bar’s Masterpieces: The Yarn Bar will enchant you with their astonishing fiber creations, adding depth to this celebration of artistic expression.
- Delightful Treats: Enjoy an array of delectable cookies and refreshing punch, the perfect complement to an afternoon of art and conversation.
Mural Unveiling Celebration: As part of our continued jubilation, we will commemorate the completion of the “Symbols of Montana” mural. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for the evening before, on First Friday, November 3rd. Capture a moment in front of this stunning mural and share it on your social media platforms, tagging us @SandstoneGalleryMT and @DowntownBillings to spread the artful excitement.

The #LightBike Trail is an art installation that winds through the alleyways of downtown billings and is sponsored by Downtown Billings Alliance. 116 N 29th St suite a, Billings, MT 59101. There will be a map of the installations, each containing a lighted bicycle, high on the wall, along with an original mural. The idea was to brighten the areas to make them safer and more beautiful, and to make an enjoyable family walk through downtown. Sandstone Gallery, located at 2913 2nd Avenue North in downtown Billings is a “Made in Montana” designated co-op gallery of sixteen local artists in the Billings, Montana area with paintings, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, glass, photography, cards & gifts.
