Nancy Morrison

Nancy Morrison is a maker as well as an artist. Her diverse artistic pursuits include drawing and painting, sewing and needlework, music, ceramics, jewelry, carpentry, writing, editing, and typesetting—just to name a few. Raised on a ranch east of Billings, Montana, it was natural for Nancy to focus her attention on Montana’s landscapes, wildlife, and horses, but her artistic journey began early out of a need to transform items of necessity into things of precise beauty, and spans a broad array of interests.

Her desire to make beautiful dishes drew her attention to ceramics, where she perfected her own style of custom cowboy china, and in so doing made hundreds of pieces of custom dining ware. A lover of sterling silver jewelry, Nancy makes custom hammered silver earrings, pins, and pendants.

Her recent drawings and paintings include birds, horses, landscapes, rabbits, and flowers. To complement her artwork and to maintain old-fashioned skills, she builds many of her own picture frames using only hand tools. For the discriminating artist, she makes handsome Pendleton wool and leather art bags, as well as handbags and totes.

She is a member of The Carbon County Arts Guild of Red Lodge and the Sandstone Gallery of Billings.
