Born and raised in central Montana, Donna graduated from Whitworth College with a science degree. From there, she went to Seattle where she worked as a medical technologist at Virginia Mason Medical Center for many years. Although her academic background was in the natural sciences, she had never completely abandoned her childhood dream of becoming an artist. Over the years she has catered to this dream whenever the opportunity availed itself, including elective credits in art while in college, sculpture classes at Seattle Community College and various drawing and painting workshops.
The last several years have been devoted to developing her own style, the direction that is influenced by her love for animals both wild and domestic. She wishes to capture the spirit and personality unique to each animal. Recently she has been exploring the use of a limited palette thus creating a harmony she finds pleasing.
Donna believes art completes ones soul whether an active participant or one who appreciates art, be it music, theater and/or the visual arts. She also believes a society that does not embrace the arts will falter and die.
